Relay for Life Invitational
Every other year, students and faculty at The Hillside School and Learning Center join with others to support the "Relay for Life." At Relay for Life events, communities across the globe come together to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much. Relay for Life teams camp out overnight and take turns walking or running aorund a track or path at a local high school, park, or fairground. Events are up to 24 hours long, and because cancer never sleeps, each team is asked to have a least one participant on the track at all times. Here's a personal message from Cyndi Hacher, our team leader.
"Beginning in 2008,I have formed several teams with Relay for LIfe, sponsored by the American Cancer Society. In 2007, I was my mother's caretaker when she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The HIllside teams have raised over $15,000 over the years and I know the kids feel good about themselves by helping. This year, I am hoping to have at least 10 team members and raise #2000. It's a great way for students to bring awareness about cancer, be involved in their community and even earn volunteer hours for Hillside.

Mornings used to be very difficult for our family...getting everyone off to school. Since we've starting going to Hillside, there haven't been any tears in the morning. Thank you.
