Educational Therapy

Throughout its history, The Hillside School and Learning Center has built a unique repository of knowledge about the personal, emotional and academic factors that are barriers to success for many students and the best ways to confront and overcome those barriers.

This knowledge is accessible to everyone through our educational therapy program. Educational therapy is one of the cornerstones of The Hillside School and Learning Center’s unique and effective approach to education for those with learning disabilities or other academic challenges. The goal of this one-on-one program is to provide remediation of weaknesses and teach compensation skills.

We believe that every child can learn successfully, but we also know that not every child learns in the same way. We understand that some students have emotional or personal issues that hinder their success, or that prior academic failure has caused a lack of confidence. Identifying and mitigating these barriers is the purpose of educational therapy.

We know that the way a student feels or perceives information has a substantial influence on the information he or she retains. Our experienced and compassionate educational therapists not only help students with academics, but also engage them and encourage them to understand and make use of the learning style that is most effective for them.

Students of any age are welcome. They do not need to be enrolled as students at The Hillside School and Learning Center to participate.

Admission begins with a conference with the Executive Director. This conference enables us and you to determine how well our services match the needs of the child. The interview and review of information is an opportunity for the family to familiarize themselves with our facilities and personnel, while we gain insight into the child. There is a $150.00 fee for this conference.

Fees for one-on-one Educational Therapy are $60.00/hour.
